On Thursday, February, 29th, the boy’s swim team headed down to Greenwich High School for FCIAC finals.
The boys placed third overall, with a first place finish in the 200 freestyle relay swum by Senior Captain Kris Flores, Sophomore Sebastian Camille, Sophomore Alex Sharpe, and Senior Captain Mike Kvashchuk, a first place finish by Sophomore Wyatt Vitiello in the 100 yard backstroke, and a new team record and All American Consideration Time in the 200 medley relay (Vitiello, Flores, Kvashchuk, and Sharpe.)
Reflecting on the meet, Flores stated, “Overall I think we had a really good meet. As a team we expected to do a little better than we did, but we had all the best times and everyone was moving up at finals. Our goal was to just focus on getting into finals at trials, then actually show off at finals and take down some school records.”
With States coming up Flores said, “We’re focusing on fixing technical stuff and making sure we’re ready mentally to keep racing. We think that we can do big things, in order to do big things we need to be locked in on all cylinders. As a captain, in order to prepare the team for States and Opens we need to keep reminding each other the talent that there is on this team and the success that we can achieve if we all put our minds together and put our skills to use. I think we should come out with at least a top two finish, multiple event winners, multiple relay winners, and more school records.”
Make sure you wish the boys good luck as they head to States this weekend.
