On Wednesday, September 24, 2025, our very own Brien McMahon girls’ soccer team achieved a 6-0 win against its rival, Norwalk High. This game was the 10th consecutive year the girls had beaten the Norwalk Bears, making it a decade.
Senior captain Lucia Fuglestad stated, “My expectations for the game were that both teams were going to come out strong.
Rivalry games are always competitive, no matter the rankings. Per usual, we came out stronger.” Lucia had a goal and an assist, helping her earn the Chelsea Cohen MVP award to honor her for her play.
Another fellow senior captain, Faith Ortolano, said, “Now that the game is over, I am looking forward to competing against the top teams and attempting to make FCIACS.” The girls are currently ranked 8th in the FCIAC with their record being 4-4-2.
Hugs after Faith (#4) scored the third goal off an assist from Lucia (#5)
“Winning the game against Norwalk for the 10th year meant so much. This is such a fun group of girls, and it was significant to both of our coaches as well as everyone on the team, especially Gabby, because she transferred from Norwalk High,” Junior captain Thalia Patrick.
“Raising the trophy at the end of the game was my favorite moment. This moment is always so special to me because it’s when the whole team comes in to celebrate and get recognized for our hard work,” Junior captain Eleni Petridis.
After working hard for two 40-minute halves, the girls were finally able to raise the Boczer Cup trophy.
