Backed by a fired-up home crowd, our Senators took control and never looked back, defeating the Bears 77–62 in an emphatic win that showed exactly who this team is becoming. Instead of folding under pressure, our Senators are playing with purpose and conviction, taking advantage of every opportunity and turning it into momentum. With this performance, the Senators were supported by one of the most charged-up crowds we’ve seen all season.
In the words of Timothy Thornley, a rising baseball star here at BMHS, “It felt like an NBA stadium. You saw every single person standing up, and when the game was over, you left the gym with your ears ringing.”
Since Timmy has attended almost every game, he added, “Norwalk is a once-a-year game with limited tickets, and since basketball is one of our strong suits this season, having a hyped-up crowd with a strong team against our rival was an amazing experience.”
Relating it back to baseball, he also said, “When we’re at home, we want to celebrate and feed off the crowd we have with every score.”
Noticing a trend, our basketball team has a stronger record at home compared to a more even record on the road this season, showing that our gym isn’t just a court—it’s a real advantage. It seems our teams have found a new level of confidence when it comes to home games.
To get more insight, we asked Emmett Rice, the team’s leading scorer, how he feels about playing at home. He said, “Playing at home is always a different feeling for me. Every time I make a play, I’m surrounded by people cheering me on, and that makes me want to do it over and over again.”
It seems our crowd truly has an impact on the game, which means showing up matters.
So no matter the sport or the location, pack the stands, stay loud, and bring the edge!
