McMahon to Host 50th Annual All-City Strings Festival
On Thursday, November 10th, the 50th annual Norwalk All-City Strings Festival will be held at the Norwalk Concert Hall. The Norwalk All-City Strings festival is an annual event in which students from Elementary School all the way up to High School come together to celebrate Norwalk strings and play numerous pieces of music.
Brien McMahon’s orchestra teacher, Mr. Rescsanszky, sat down with the McMahon Archive to talk about the All-City Strings Festival and what it means to the strings programs throughout the city of Norwalk.
“The goal is to showcase our kids as well as to showcase the strings program in Norwalk,” Mr. Rescsanszky stated. “There’s a lot of excitement in the program around it.”
For all of the Juniors and Seniors who were at the assembly in which Kevin Atlas spoke about supporting each other, using what he taught us attending the All-City Strings Festival would be a fantastic way to show your support to fellow Senators and other students throughout Norwalk.
“I think it’s something that would be great if people in the school community could come out to support, see it, and celebrate alongside.”
The High School All-City orchestra is performing two pieces during the Festival. The first piece is a double violin concerto, meaning one of your fellow peers will be performing a solo within the concerto! The second piece is a tribute to world-famous composer John Williams. Williams is arguably the most notable composer in American history, having composed the scores for Jaws, the Star Wars franchise, Jurassic Park, the Indiana Jones franchise, and many more. We hope to see you there on Thursday, November 10th, at 7:30 PM!
