As the clock ticked down past the one minute mark, players and coaches embraced on the sidelines as the Brien McMahon football team picked up its first win of the season, 19-2 at home against Enfield. Friday’s victory marked the Senators’ first win since last year rout of Bridgeport Central. However, the Senators are nowhere near satisfied.

“We still have seven more games to go, we can’t get too complacent,” said Quarterback Callum Letters.

Letters, who had a touchdown through the air and on the ground on Friday night, emphasized team chemistry as the key to McMahon having success this year.

“We can just improve by making sure we’re having positive practices and making sure we’re being connected as a team and playing together.”

Offensively, RB Jahiem Daniels picked up his first rushing touchdown of the year. WR Jermel Bynum also added onto his total for the year, corralling a 28-yard shot from Letters in the corner of the end zone.

On the defensive side of the ball, the McMahon front seven was able to put any Enfield offensive attack at a standstill. Enfield scored just two points, those being on a safety on a McMahon punt attempt. The Senators’ defensive line and linebackers were able to stop the Eagles’ running attack. Alex Letters, Marques Singleton, Ralphy Thiersaint, William Moy, Asher Mccallmon, and Lucas Silva were among those playing a major role on the front seven.

Andrew Ehlers and Johnathan Angione shut down the Enfield wide receivers for all of this game, with Angione forcing a fumble that led to an Enfield turnover.

The Senators will look to use their momentum to pick up another win on October 1st, when they will head to Wilton to play the Warriors.
