The Trevor Project

The Trevor Project

In honor of Pride Month beginning, I am creating a fundraiser for the charity The Trevor Project. This charity is very important to me and might be just as important to you and others as well.

If you are unaware of what pride month might be, it is a celebration and commemoration during June for the LGBTQ+ community. Pride month began in 1969, during the Stonewall Riots, which was an event where members of the gay community protested against policemen, who raided a gay bar in New York. This was a turning point in history for the entire community and the event contributed to the rapid rise of a gay liberation movement.

The Trevor Project is an American nonprofit organization founded in 1998. The organization focuses on the mental health of teens in the LGBTQ+ community. It is one of the largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organizations in the world. Their mission is to “build a safer, more inclusive world.”

Mental health is a huge issue that many of us struggle with. Whether it is public or in silence. This organization is dear to my heart because I know firsthand as a member of the community and as someone who has struggled before how alone it can be. Being supported is an amazing thing and everyone deserves that opportunity.

My goal is to raise awareness and raise $350.00 for this charity. Any donation is greatly appreciated and will be thanked with a bracelet. Thank you so much for reading this article. Happy Pride Month!
